We Are Just A Spec In The Universe And A Drop In The Deep Blue Sea
We are so small but mighty. This morning I got up and pulled the Globe of the World in front of me. Just because. I have one on top of my fridge to remind me and put me into my place.
As I spun the globe around and let it slow down, I am looking where I live, which is Canada. We are really far north. Not compared to some of the Northern places that are hundreds of miles from us. It gets really remote up there. But as I look at the globe and all the countries I realize just how small I am. Living in a small community. And thinking again how big the world is. Sure, no matter we live, we can connect virtually to anywhere in the world but it is in no way the same as being in a Country thousands of miles from home and hundreds of miles from nowhere. If you have done that then you know what I am talking about. So in that sense we are really small, but we have access to really big things and ideals that we can chase and accomplish.
We Can Still Create And Do Very Big Things
When you travel to a foreign country, especially to one that doesn’t speak english, it can be a very scary journey until you get used to it. Then you return home to your own home and first step onto the ground you are so grateful for what you have.
Any new goal or destination can be scary when you first step into the unknown. You let your senses adjust, slowly get familiar with the new ground and territory and start to feel a bit comfortable. Not too comfortable. Just comfortable enough to feel your way around and feel like you are in semi-control of your senses and direction. Then you step back and take a look at the actions you took and it wasn't too bad you say to yourself. You were just in a new environment and you survived. Before long you thrived.
Its the same with anything we learn. It feels totally weird at first. Then it gets to be enjoyable and fun. You feel like you are achieving and creating something.
What We Can or Cannot Do, What We Consider Possible or Impossible, is Rarely a Function of Our True Capability. It is More Likely a Function of Our Beliefs About Who We Are
When you push yourself to the edge. To the total max you think you can go and then you look back. You realize you had no idea you could do that. It really looked impossible, but somehow you pulled it off.
You are left with a wholesome and easy confident feeling. Sometimes in awe of your own powers. ‘Damn! that was amazing!’ you say to yourself. You are thinking that all this time, you just didn’t think it was possible to do it and now here you are.
You start to think that, what else in my life have I been missing out on or haven’t really seen? What else might I consider impossible?
Its a new sense of found confidence that you discovered. It was there all along. You just had to acknowledge it.
Thats why its important to just start whatever it is that you have been thinking of accomplishing. Its really those little pieces that as you complete they just spur you on to more and more action. You can really pick your goal and make an obsession of taking proper and accurate action every day towards it. You own it. It's your goal and each day you lean into yourself more and more. Carving out what looks like and feels like your goal. Just the action of starting puts you in the game.
When I took the Dale Carnegie Class when there was a long distance runner in our class named Gail. Each morning she would get up at 4 oclock and go running. For 5 or 6 or 7 miles. Every day. That's how she started her day. This was my first exposure to hearing about Athletes that perform amazing feats and it
really blew my mind.
You have One Or Several Amazing Feats You Will Accomplish
Now they have these 100 Mile Ultra Marathons where runners run at the edge of death in the desert. It goes to show you the big gap of where you are now compared to the unlimited actions they take in running long distance. If you’re a long distance Ultra Marathon Athlete then I commend you.
It's just a matter of where you are now to an Ultra Marathon that you want to fit in. Running 10K races was it for me.
It really stretched my mind about new possibilities. I always felt that with all that physical and mental energy I took to run a race like that how can I transfer that into other areas in my life.
You probably have some areas of excellence in your life now that you are really good at. Something that perhaps comes naturally to you or something that you trained yourself to be highly skilled at. Its the psychology of it. You can use the same psychology to achieve something else in your life that is important to you. You just transfer your energy and focus.
You may already know what it is you would like to accomplish and perhaps have thought about it frequently. All you have to do is give yourself permission to move into it. Book the time off in your Calendar and begin. Start a new chapter in your life. Full of energy and confidence and peace of mind. It's a joyous experience when you begin something new. Along the way you keep it exciting. It doesn’t even feel like it consumes your time. Because you enjoy it so much.
The newness of working on new projects and ideals keeps us fresh and grateful that we are using our talent and creativity and feeling so
purposeful. It's the activities that we get lost in. Its a sense of timelessness, that you don’t even notice the clock.
So you keep going to the wee hours of the morning thinking tomorrow is another day. Sometimes when you come back to it, you look at it and amaze yourself. How the heck did I figure that out? Did I actually do that?
It's because you were tapped right into your creative subconscious…
So you exercise it some more. Stretch your mind to create new ideas while you work on these projects or hobbies that you have discovered. It gets better and better too as you tap into it.
It might look like we are just a spec in the universe or just a drop in the deep blue sea but we are a part of it and our thoughts are real forces..
Tell me what you want I’ll help you get it.
